My Year End News Blog
To all my Friends, Family, and readers of my Blog. This is a year end News letter with Excerpts of all that has transpired during 2015 For My Wife and I, on our Rving Journey. 2015 was a busy year for us. So here goes.
It is January 2015 and I am getting Cabin Fever and want to head for Warmer Climates. 2014 was a bad year for us, (see excerpt below) and we were hoping 2015 would be better.

https://rvbloggers.wordpress.com/2015/01/03/we-are-hopeful-2015-will-be-a-better-year-for-rving/2014 was not a good year for us for RVing. Doctors appointments and other things kept us close to home except, for a few short trips of 500 miles or less for business reasons. Normally we would go to Arizona and Texas for the Winter, But it was not to be. I traded our Denali TT because for the short time we had it. It sat in its RV pad for 1 year and 3 months. We made one trip in it. I got a older 1997 Georgie Boy Pursuit Motor Home. Got a lot less money tied up in it. Got my fingers crossed and hope we will be able to get away for at least part of the winter, But it may be spring before we can, If at all.
It is now February 10th and we are on our way to Benson Arizona and Yuma to visit friends and soak up Warm Sunshine. It was quite an adventure. To read more about it click the link below.

Space 95 at Adobe Village in Yuma Arizona. Part of February and March 2015
We are now into March of 2015 and I have made many Mods, Additions, and repairs to the 1997 Georgie Boy Pursuit Motor Home. We got home the Last of March and one day I was sitting down and reflected back About the perils of Owning a Older Motor Home.
Excerpt From my Blog
As I sit here at my computer looking out the window at the overcast sky and the dreary weather. I can’t help but reflect back on the perils of owning a older Class A Motor Home or RV. I have owed new, used, and many different RV’s in the last 50 years of RVing. My present RV is a Class A 1997 Georgie Boy Pursuit. It is now 18 years old. I acquired it last October when I got rid of my truck and TT and went back to a Class A Motor Home, which I prefer. I did not want something fancy or expensive because of my age, and besides I like to tinker and work on things to stay busy.
April 2015 (Tax Time) Has come and gone Did not do much of anything except my Income tax.
May 2015 Found us traveling to Kuna Idaho to get away for a mini vacation and to visit Family. We had Vapor Lock problems with the motor home with temps in the 90’s. This is common with older motor homes and the 460 V-8 Engine. We had to be towed to the Ford Garage in Twin Falls Idaho. I also tore up 2 brand new tires on the front of the toad. Read all about the trip in the link below.
It is now June 2015 and time to start looking for a newer Motor Home. See Link and Excerpt Below.

After our last trip to and the problem that we had with the motor home I decided that maybe we should get a newer Motor home. To put the old 1997 Georgie Boy Pursuit in tip top shape would take at least another $8000 and no guarantee’s that would solve all of the problems. I could not see putting that much money in a older motor home that would have over $25000 invested and would only be worth maybe $12000 to $15000 Better to lose $3000 to $5000 now, So we started looking for a newer model that would fit our modest needs. We don’t full time and don’t travel as much any more, But we do take long trips when we go. I did not want something big and fancy. I did want something that was still in production, in good mechanical shape and dependable. We finally found what we were looking for. It was a 2006 Four Winds Hurricane 31D With a Ford F-53 chassis and the Ford Triton V-10
We are now the proud Owners of a newer better Motor Home. It is a 2006 Four Winds Hurricane 31D That has 2 slides, a 3000 watt inverter. Ford 262 HP V-10 30 valve Engine with 56000 miles on it. 2 air conditioners, patio and slide awnings, It also has 4ea 6 volt house batteries, and it is self contained and good for dry camping. It has most of the features That we want and need. So far it has been trouble free. I got it at a real good price.
July, August, and September was spent Making Modifications and Upgrades to the Motor Home. I did this to get it ready for any trips we wanted to take and not have any problems or break downs. Here is a list of things I have done to it since purchase.
1. 6ea Brand New Samson Tires 16 ply
2. Removed the Old Analog TV and replaced it with a 32 inch LED TV.
3. Modified TV Cabinet and made a shelf underneath.
4. Did the CHF (Cheap Handling Fix) to the front and rear sway bars.
5. Upgraded 30 amp service to 50 amp.
6 installed a PD4655 Converter w/4 stage battery charger.
7. Removed Faded, Curled, Black Decals on both sides.
8. Added a Turbo Flusher to Black Tank.
9. Installed Electric Hot Rod in Water Heater.
10. replaced all bulbs with LED Bulbs.
11. added LED Reading Lamps on each side of Bed.
12 Added a 1 ½ inch memory foam pad to the Sleep Number Mattress.
13. Added Speakers, Woofer, and Amplifier to TV.
14. Added a Dash Cam on the overhead cabinet drivers side.
15. Added another 110 V Duplex Outlet in Kitchen.
It is now October – November 2015 and after a false start we are on our way to Texas, traveling 4000 miles In Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. While in Texas, I got bored and added a 110 V Duplex outlet in the Dinette area and added a 110 V LED Light under the cabinet above the Toilet. The Motor Home ran without any problems. While going through Deming New Mexico where we stayed a couple of nights. I went to the Steer Safe Factory and had a Steer Safe installed along with 4ea Bilstein Shocks. It made a world of difference in handling, especially on the bad rutted roads and Interstate I-10 across Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.
Our trip is over and it is now December 2015. It is to cold and snowy to do much to the motor home. I have winterized it and installed a HDMI Blue Ray DVD Player and ordered a Center channel Speaker from Amazon for the TV. I am hoping we can get away to Arizona or Warmer country the last of January 2016 for a couple of months. So this is a summary of our 2015 Rving Adventures.
Have a Merry Christmas, God Bless you and Yours and God Bless America.
